ASHLAND — Southern Oregon all-star catcher Riley Donovan was voted the NAIA Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday after showing off her power in a four-game sweep of Providence (Mont.) over the weekend.

Donovan went 10-for-13 with three home runs, four doubles, 11 RBIs and eight runs scored in the series, which the No. 9-ranked Raiders finished at 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the Cascade Conference.

On Monday, she was named the Cascade Conference’s Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

The senior and reigning NAIA Player of the Year hit each of her home runs during Saturday’s doubleheader sweep as part of a 6-for-6 afternoon. On the season, her batting average is up to .526 (30-for-57) and her slugging percentage to .965. She’s tied for third on the national home runs leaderboard with seven and sixth in RBIs with 27.

Donovan also earned the award last week following a 3-1 series win at Eastern Oregon. Over the last two weeks combined, she’s 18-for-27 with five homers and 19 RBIs.

SOU plays a nonleague doubleheader Friday at Jessup (Calif.). The Raiders were originally scheduled to play Saturday at Menlo (Calif.), too, but that twin bill has been canceled.
