After the abrupt closures of Cracker Barrel restaurants in Bend, Beaverton and Tualatin Monday, it was natural to wonder whether the Medford location for the chain might be next.

“The one in Medford is still kicking. They have no plans to close us,” said Clint Lane, general manager of the Medford Cracker Barrel, located at 1445 Center Dr.

The company, he said, has told the Medford restaurant staff it still wants a presence in Oregon.

“We’re doing just fine,” Lane said.

Officials at the Cracker Barrel home office in Lebanon, Tennessee, were not immediately available for comment.

According to the company’s website, the Medford location is the only one left in Oregon.

After the closure in Bend, The Bulletin newspaper received a press release from the Cracker Barrel corporation stating the company was sad it was unable to overcome the effects of the pandemic at the Central Oregon location.

The Cracker Barrel chain has 660 locations in 45 states, according to The Bulletin’s coverage of the closure.

The Medford Cracker Barrel opened in October of 2018 and supports 180 jobs, according to the company website.
