‘Windows in Time’ History Lecture: As part of the free “Windows in Time” library lecture series, Ken Gregg, Jacksonville resident and professional photographer, will present “Jacksonville — Then and Now: A Photo Essay” at noon Wednesday, April 5, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., and again at noon Wednesday, April 12, at the Phoenix library, 510 W. First St. Peter Britt, and later his son Emil, photographed Jacksonville’s transition from a gold mining camp in the 1850s to the late 19th century hub of Southern Oregon; then, when the railroad bypassed the town in 1927, to its decline to a backwater town. Gregg has captured the Jacksonville of today, its places and people, in stylized photographs that illustrate the revival of the town that became the first group of buildings on the West Coast to be declared a National Historic Landmark. Pear Blossom Festival: The 70th annual Rogue Valley Pear Blossom Festival will boast a full lineup of events Friday and Saturday, April 7-8. The festival kicks off on Friday, April 7, with a street fair that will run from noon to 10 p.m. at Pear Blossom Park, 204 N. Bartlett St., in downtown Medford. The “Smudge Pot Stroll” through Medford’s downtown area will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, where you can taste local wines and appetizers. The street fair will continue from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 8, and will feature live music performances, food, art and handmade crafts and more from over 150 vendors. Table Rocks Hikes: The Nature Conservancy and Bureau of Land Management Medford District will offer free educational hikes at Upper and Lower Table Rocks every Saturday and select Sundays, April 8-May 21.
