PREP SB: No. 4 Panthers cruise past Roseburg

South Medford junior Nicole Ledendecker hit a two-run single in the first inning and added a two-run triple in the fifth to lead the No. 4-ranked Panthers to a 6-1 win over Roseburg in Southwest Conference softball Wednesday at Lithia & Driveway Fields.

Ledendecker finished 3-for-3 with one run and four RBIs and also allowed one run through three innings to earn the pitching victory for South Medford (16-4, 9-4 SWC).

Kaycee Hudson struck out six and allowed one hit in four scoreless innings of relief, and also went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Maleyah Thoele was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Kirsten Morgan scored twice for South.

CRATER 12, NORTH EUGENE 0, 5 inn: At Central Point, Crater’s Taylor Kenworthy belted a solo home run and Alexis Perez went 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI to pull the Comets even with Thurston atop the Midwestern League.

Perez also struck out four of the seven batters faced in two innings for the Comets (12-5, 10-0 MWL), while Megan Allen struck out four to complete the no-hitter.

Alyssa Kilbane went 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs to boost Crater.

MCKINLEYVILLE 6, EAGLE POINT 5: At Eagle Point, Baylee Mullen hit her third home run and finished 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs but a six-run surge in the second inning by McKinleyville of California was too much to overcome.

Hailey Waldon and Madysin Gray also drove in a run for the Eagles (13-8), and Jocelyn Hanan scored twice.

ASHLAND 16, SPRINGFIELD 0, 3 inn.: At Ashland, Glory Pistole connected for three home runs to raise her season total to nine overall as Ashland stormed to the Midwestern League triumph at North Mountain Park.

Pistole finished 3-for-4 with three runs and six RBIs and also earned the win inside the circle by allowing one hit with five strikeouts through three innings for the Grizzlies (8-10, 4-6 MWL).

Tessa Hobein also hit a home run and went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs and Ivy Clason was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs for Ashland, which has won four straight.
