The developments were first reported in a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. A message to parents from the Eagle Point School District shed more light on the matter, stating school officials received a screenshot from another parent of what appeared to be a SCS student making the statement on social media, which read, “Shooting up the school tomorrow.”
In response to seeing the post, the school immediately called authorities and ordered a precautionary lockdown until deputies arrived to begin investigating.
In addition, school officials held the student who allegedly made the threat and “immediately contained … his backpack” and search their person.

The sheriff’s office and school district said once their respective statements were released that “there is no threat to Shady Cove School.”
The release noted that the behavioral crisis team of the Eagle Point School District was activated to conduct an assessment of the student. In addition, the county’s school safety deputy was developing a safety plan with the student’s parents.
Just a few weeks ago, on April 26, deputies and the school district responded to a threat by a student at White Mountain Middle School that a shooting would take place there that day. The threat did not materialize, but law enforcement stepped up its presence at the school at that time.
