Age Wise Age Well is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide peer counseling to older adults who are experiencing issues related to aging, such as grief, loss, anxiety, isolation, adjusting to new illness and others. No experience needed. Volunteer counselors are trained to meet with clients one-on-one and provide emotional support and guidance to seniors referred to the program. This opportunity is only for volunteers 55 and older.

Asante has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities in Medford and Ashland. With its growing Medford campus, volunteers are needed to provide clerical assistance, work at the information desks, assist in patient care areas, help in the gift shop, distribute magazines, make crafts for NICU families and more. The Ashland campus is looking for volunteers to work the registration desk, deliver meals, provide music for patients, provide spiritual care and provide clerical support.

Do you have an hour a week to provide an essential service to a local senior? The Call-A-Ride medical transportation program is in need of volunteer drivers to transport local seniors to their medical appointments in Jackson County. Drivers use their own vehicles; mileage reimbursement is provided, and the volunteers choose their own schedules week to week. This opportunity is only for volunteers 55 and older.

The Craterian Theater strives to enhance the cultural opportunities across Southern Oregon. It could not exist without the generous support of the incredible volunteers, who might usher for a performance, work in the Concession Cafe, assist in the Box Office or participate in the Annual Gingerbread Jubilee and Community Tour.

Habitat for Humanity is getting ready for three different construction projects and is looking for construction volunteers. Volunteers are also needed to help at Restore with testing metals, helping in the donation center, helping to organize various departments and more. No prior experience needed.

The four clubs of the Medford Railroad Park need volunteers to maintain and operate this unique attraction. Support during the twice-monthly Sunday Run Days would be helpful, but work can also occur during the weekdays. Gardening, landscaping, parking, food sales, machine maintenance, painting, wiring and other tasks are all needed at the park. An interest in trains is not necessary.

Rogue Retreat is looking for volunteers to help provide guidance and care for children, ages infant to 12 years old. Volunteers are needed to watch the children of the Life Skills Class Participants while their parents are in class for two hours each month. Volunteers will play games and make crafts with the children. Volunteers should be able to communicate well with young children, have patience and be able to pick up a small child if needed.

ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum is an all-ages science center bringing hands-on, interactive learning to Southern Oregon and Northern California. It has a small staff and relies on its team of volunteers to make these educational experiences possible. Work directly with the education team to help run field trips, or lend your knowledge and experience to the facilities crew.

Senior and Disability Services, a department of Rogue Valley Council of Governments, functions as the Area Agency on Aging for Jackson and Josephine Counties. Their mission is to promote the dignity, quality of life and self-determination of seniors and adults with disabilities. Volunteer opportunities include Senior Advisory Council, Disaster Registry volunteers and Health Promotion Class coach. Free training is provided.
