A 38-year-old man was cited for disorderly conduct and released Monday following calls to police about “a disturbance” at a children’s soccer tournament game on Memorial Day at North Medford High School.

Christian Quirarte was identified by authorities as the person in question, but he did not possess a firearm, contrary to initial witness reports, according to a news release Tuesday from the Medford Police Department.
During the tournament involving teams from outside the Rogue Valley, police received calls about 1:45 p.m. about the “disturbance,” which allegedly involved an argument between parents, with one person holding a gun.
Fields were cleared and games were suspended while police investigated, which produced conflicting statements from witnesses, the release stated. “Eventually” Quirarte, who had left the scene, was identified. He returned, and police cited him “after interviewing multiple witnesses and ensuring that there was not (a) public threat,” the news release said.
