Medford band students made city, schools proud
Thank you to the city of Medford for encouraging and supporting the North and South Medford High School band students in their endeavor to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. this past Monday!
The united Medford bands looked and sounded incredible! What a proud moment for our city and for Medford schools. Great job, students and band teachers!

Clarifying motions during Ashland budget committee meeting
Trending
I’m writing to clarify my motions during last week’s Ashland Citizens Budget Committee meeting.
On the Ashland Police, my motion would have retained the current size of the department, cutting funding for the two additional officers proposed by the city manager. My argument was that with the sharp reduction in tourists and a graying population, additional police officers are not needed at this time.
On the Fire and Rescue issue, my proposal was to reduce the number of new emergency medical positions from four to two. The budget approved by the committee increases the number of Fire and Rescue Department staffers by six — four EMTs, a fire marshal and a fire training officer.
In my view, the $7.1 million deficit in the general fund budget should have been addressed by the Budget Committee. The majority, however, decided not to.

Where are the troopers pulling over speeders?
Where are they? For many months, maybe longer I have not seen any OSP stops for speeding.
75mph is not even acceptable in the right lane … Left lanes are OregonBahn with speeds seeming over 80 and more. Amazing more have not been killed.
