Medford Juneteenth Celebration: Celebrate community and freedom during the third annual family-friendly Southern Oregon Juneteenth Celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Pear Blossom Park, 312 E. This year’s celebration “will showcase our region’s expanding roster of Black-owned businesses, highlight local Black artists and creatives, share Black culture and commemorate this moment in our history and enrich understanding of our collective journey toward equity,” organizers said. The day-long event will include activities for all-ages throughout the day. The Kids’ Zone will feature music, bounce houses, face painting and games. The main stage will feature performers from across the Pacific Northwest, such as DJ Gemineye, Ekome drumming band, No BS, Ratie D, and Tyrone Hendrix, plus performances from the AfroScoutz youth program. Community leaders including Kamilah Long of The Black Whole; Kym McKandes, pastor of the Living Room Church; and Abby McKee of Britt Festival will illuminate history and offer inspiration. Southern Oregon Lavender Festival: Celebrate everything lavender on two special weekends for six full days in the Greater Applegate region during the 10th annual festival, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, June 23-25, and again July 14-16, and includes six family-run lavender destinations on the Southern Oregon Lavender Trail. Most farms offer U-pick lavender, lavender products and crafts, classes, essential oil distillation, lavender plants, treats and more. Youth Aviation Camp: The Rogue Eagles will hold its third annual Youth Aviation Camp Wednesday through Saturday, June 28-July 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, at Agate Skyways, 888 E. Activities include instruction on how lift is created, the axis of flight, construction and experimentation with gliders, orientation to navigation, piloting an RC plane, as well as a day spent behind the gate at the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport with tours of Mercy Flights, Million Air, the airport fire station and a chance to sit in a cockpit courtesy of the Rogue Valley Flying Club.
