Medford Rogues shortstop Jonathan Mendez makes a play for an out at Harry & David Field.

Hits were aplenty over the final two games of the Medford Rogues’ series with the San Francisco Seagulls, with Medford registering 16 hits in each game Saturday and Sunday at Harry & David Field to complete a four-game sweep of the Seagulls.

During Sunday’s finale, Aidan Dougherty and Jonathan Mendez powered the Rogues to a 12-4 victory as the duo combined for six hits and seven RBIs.

Dougherty finished 3-for-5 with one run and four RBIs, while Mendez went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI for Medford (10-4).

Cody Nitowitz also went 3-for-4 and scored twice as all but one Rogues starter registered at least one hit.

Buoyed by steady offensive support, Aaron Platner earned Sunday’s pitching victory after he allowed three hits and one unearned run over six innings. Platner struck out four and walked two.

Mac Elske also fared well in relief, allowing one hit with one strikeout and two walks over two scoreless innings in support of Platner.

Both teams were coming off a wild Saturday night game that saw a combined 31 runs, 29 hits and eight errors.

Medford was able to use an eight-run outburst in the third inning to take control, but still needed a seven-run surge in the eighth inning to help put away the Seagulls.

Nitowitz registered his summer-high in RBIs after driving in six runs for the Rogues, finishing 3-for-6 with one run and one walk from the leadoff spot.

Mendez connected for a pair of doubles to help him go 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, while Dougherty continued his hot streak by going 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs.

In other key efforts for the Rogues, Cameron Sewell was 2-for-4 with four runs and one RBI and drew two walks, Nate Gray was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, Mike LaVigne had two runs and two RBIs and Deshon Thomas connected for a triple while scoring three times and driving in two runs.

On the mound, David Andrus, Simon Mathios and Gabe Brabec each pitched three innings Saturday.

Brabec registered five of the team’s 10 strikeouts and allowed three runs on five hits during his stint, while Mathios allowed two runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk in relief of Andrus. The starter struck out four but walked two and allowed five hits and five runs.

The Rogues were set to host a three-game home series against CCL Showcase on Monday night before making one of only three road trips this summer on Friday and Saturday at the Portland Pickles.

Start times are 6:35 p.m. for the Rogues through Wednesday at Harry & David Field.
