Burger King has offered its classic Whopper in dozens of variants.

The fall season means colder weather and it has become synonymous with certain flavors. Pumpkin spice, apple, and cinnamon tend to mark the season and those really aren’t tastes that go well with a hamburger.

That’s why while Wendy’s (WEN) – Get Free Report may add a Caramel Frosty to its lineup and McDonald’s will add some variation of pumpkin spice to its McCafe lineup, the fast-food chains generally avoid those flavors on their core products.

In theory, there are foods associated with Thanksgiving that might work as limited, but McDonald’s (MCD) – Get Free Report, Wendy’s, and Burger King have only rarely sold turkey sandwiches and they have not experimented with mashed potatoes or even sweet potato fries. And, while people might embrace a Turkey Mac or a Cranberry Sauce Whopper, the big three of fast-food burgers have opted to not go in that direction.

McDonald’s, back in the mid-2000s, did offer a line of sub-like sandwiches in Canada that included a turkey BLT option. That was a shortlived effort to offer healthier options and battle a growing trend of customers embracing sub chains because they offered fresher ingredients.

That sandwich never made it to the U.S. and the line was quietly killed in Canada a few years later. Restaurant Brands International’s QSR Burger King had a sub-like line in the U.S. in the 80s and 90s that included chicken, ham, and even veal options, but turkey was never an option.

Now, Burger King locations in Canada get to experience a different take on fall flavors. It gets very cold north of the U.S. border, so the burger chain is going spicy with its new menu additions.

Burger King adds a new Whopper (and more)

Burger King has leaned heavily on its Whopper franchise as a way to launch new menu initiatives. In this case, the chain is using the same limited-time flavors across a Whopper, a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and a Chicken wrap. The entire “Spicy and More” lineup, which is exclusive to Canada includes the Jalapeño Whopper, Jalapeño Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Jalapeño Chicken Wrap.

The Jalapeño Whopper features a 100 percent flame-grilled beef patty topped with jalapeno cheese, sliced jalapenos, and a creamy jalapeno sauce on a sesame seed bun,” Fast Food Post reported.

Burger King is basically offering the same thing but with fried chicken for the Jalapeño Crispy Chicken Sandwich. That new menu features a premium, 100 percent Canadian white meat chicken fillet, seasoned and breaded and topped with jalapeno cheese, jalapeno slices, and a creamy jalapeno sauce on a toasted plain bun.

The Jalapeño Chicken Wrap follows a similar recipe offering a seasoned and breaded chicken fillet, jalapeno slices, and creamy jalapeno sauce, all wrapped in a soft tortilla.

Prices vary depending on the region of the country. The Jalapeño Whopper comes in at 710 calories and 40 grams of fat while the two-patty double version of the new Whopper comes in at a whopping 980 calories and 60 grams of fat. The chicken version of the sandwich is 650 calories with 32 grams of fat while the wrap contains 330 calories and 17 grams of fat.

No single patty sandwich on the Burger King menu contains more calories than the Jalapeño Whopper. A regular Whopper is 660 calories while a Single Quarter Pounder King comes in slightly higher at 661 calories.

The most caloric sandwich on the chain’s menu is surprisingly not the Triple Whopper (1,268). That’s beaten by the Roadhouse King which is a two-patty sandwich topped with bacon and onion rings.
