The Oregon Cabaret Theatre has unveiled plans for its 39th season.

The Oregon Cabaret Theatre will be back for its 39th season in 2024, featuring a lineup of five new shows, including a world premiere — “Sherlock Holmes and the Study in Scarlet” — which will be directed by Rick Robinson.

“We’re really excited that we’re going to be able to do a 2024 season,” said Robinson, managing director for the Cabaret.

Next year’s lineup includes a wide variety of works, from theater classics such as “Little Shop of Horrors” to the board-game inspired “Clue” with a cast of suspicious characters seeking the identity of the murderer among them.

“We don’t want to just cater to one particular taste. What we always say is we don’t know if you’ll love it, but we’ll do our best to make polished, professional, high quality entertainment,” Robinson said. “None of these shows will feel the same as any others.”

The 2024 season includes five shows: “Clue,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” “Sherlock Holmes and the Study in Scarlet,” and “Pine Mountain Lodge.”

The opening show for the Cabaret, “Clue,” is based on the iconic 1985 movie of the same name, which was in turn inspired by the classic murder mystery board game.

The play begins at a remote mansion where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party. When their host turns up dead, the guests all become suspects. “Clue” opens Feb. 2 and plays through April 7, 2024.

In the spring, the Cabaret returns with the musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Meek and dejected floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his co-worker crush. The foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivorous plant promises fame and fortune to Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it blood. “Little Shop of Horrors” will play from April 19 through June 23, 2024.

Next up for the Cabaret is “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” based on the popular 2001 film.

The Tony-nominated musical tells the story of Elle Woods, whose life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law School. Determined to get him back, Woods charms her way into the prestigious institution, and with the support of some new friends, sets out to prove to herself and to the world that she’s more than just a pretty face. “Legally Blonde: The Musical” opens July 5 and plays until Sept. 1, 2024.

The fourth show of the season will be “Sherlock Holmes and the Study in Scarlet,” taking audiences back to the very beginning of the Sherlock Holmes and John Watson partnership.

It’s 1881, and Watson has returned to London after serving in the Second Anglo-Afghan War and is looking for a place to live. An old friend tells him that a consulting detective by the name of Sherlock Holmes is looking for someone to split the rent at a flat at 221B Baker Street. The resulting arrangement plunges the new duo headlong into one of Holmes’ most devilish mysteries. Nate Cheeseman (Sherlock Holmes) and Galen Schloming (Dr. John Watson) return to the Cabaret to reprise their “Sherlock Holmes” and “Final Problem” roles. The show will run from Sept. 13 to Nov. 3, 2024.

For the holiday season, the Cabaret will bring back the popular musical from 2016, “Pine Mountain Lodge,” featuring the classic standards of the ’30s and ’40s.

The musical tells the story of a returning World War II veteran tasked with shutting down his father’s flagging upstate New York hotel, only to find out the hotel is haunted by two quarreling ghosts who were former lovers and famous dance partners. The ghosts put aside past grievances to convince the vet to put on one last show to save the hotel from bankruptcy. “Pine Mountain Lodge” will run from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31, 2024.
