Haunted History Tour: Costumed docents will lead an hour-long “Haunted History” tour the second Friday of each month through Sept. 8, in downtown Jacksonville. Learn about ghosts that still linger in Jacksonville’s historic district and a little history about the buildings, their occupants and life in a gold rush town. The 7 and 7:30 p.m. Courthouse tour features stories of brothels, epidemics and hangings. The 7:15 and 7:45 p.m. Britt Hill tour shares tales of murder, arson, saloons and Oregon’s oldest Chinatown. The walking tours are not your “typical” ghost tours with special effects, but are history tours about real hauntings resulting from past events. Tours are $10; reservations are required. Southern Oregon Artists & Artisans Guild: The Southern Oregon Guild of Artists & Artisans will present the fifth annual “Let’s Write!” event — a day of writing for all kinds of writers, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Sept. 9, at the Guild Gallery & Art Center, located in the Kerby Belt Building, 24353 Redwood Highway, Kerby. This year’s theme is “The Power of Words & The Writer’s Conscience.” Six local writers will give a series of interactive presentations aimed to actively inspire your own literary practice. Almeda Fire Exhibit: The Talent Historical Society will hold a special closing event of the Almeda Fire Exhibit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Talent Museum, 105 N. Market St., Talent, and at the Library Commons and stage next door to the museum. Live entertainment will be provided by the five-piece band Rickishane, and Turning Point Dance Studio. The Long Term Recovery Group, a community nonprofit offering services to fire victims for spiritual and emotional needs, material needs, relationships, body care, counseling and more will also be on hand. Also look for a chair massage set up in a pop-up on the lawn of the museum. A person will be walking around with an emoji board asking people to identify what emoji represents their feeling, and then sending them to a technician or clinician in their crew if the person chooses the service. There will be two clinicians who have been trained as compassionate listeners to talk to people who want to tell their story. One will be bilingual. The exhibit will be going to the Chetco Valley Historical Society Museum in Brookings.
