Halloween Pumpkin Painting: Celebrate Halloween with a pumpkin craft for all ages from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Jacksonville Community Center, 160 W. Main St., Jacksonville. ‘Just Scream’ Haunted House: Just Scream Halloween will present a haunted house featuring the theme “The Things Nightmares are Made of,” from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20; from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21; and from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28, at the old Elks building, 202 N. Central Ave., in downtown Medford. Travel through a dark world of zombies, ghouls and goblins. Children younger than 7 will not be admitted, child care will be available. FOTAS Fall Festival: Support Friends of the Animal Shelter during this community event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Ashland Food Co-Op, 237 N. First St., Ashland. Look for live music by Jodie Jean Marston and Friends, food, Walkabout Brewing craft beer, pumpkin decorating, face painting and more. Liam’s Trunk or Treat: Families are invited to a free family Halloween event from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Twin Creeks Park, 555 Twin Creeks Crossing Loop, Central Point. Children can wear their costumes and trick-or-treat for Halloween goodies while going from car to car ( some of the cars will be decorated), and play games. Ashland YMCA Trunk or Treat: Dress in your Halloween best for Ashland YMCA’s family-friendly “spooktacular” activities from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Ashland YMCA, 540 YMCA Way, Ashland. Pheasant Fields Farm: The 19th annual Harvest Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, through Oct. 29, at the 20-acre farm, located at 1865 Camp Baker Road, Phoenix. Activities include a corn maze, hay rides, pumpkin-picking, animal exhibits, three tractor-powered train rides, a paintball shooting gallery and vendors with local organic produce, handcrafted items, bread, caramel apples, espresso drinks and more. Once the sun goes down, guests can ride the zombie train and shoot undead targets throughout the ride and more. The final two weekends of the Harvest Festival will feature additional activities that include “The Rise of The Walkers” “haunted” barn experience. Gold Hill Haunted House & Graveyard: A two-story, family-friendly haunted house more than 100 years old is the setting for ghoulish good fun and treats for all ages from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 28, at 504 First Ave., Gold Hill. The haunt does not do gore and also offers a “no scare” option. Additional activities include a fortune teller, bake sale and kids activities. Activities will be available for young children. Tickets are $5 for ages 13 and older, $3 for ages 6 to 12, $1 for ages 3 to 5 and free for ages 2 and younger. KLZ Farms: The annual KLZ Farm Pumpkin Patch, 4283 Fern Valley Road, Medford, will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 2 to 10 p.m. Fridays; noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 29. The farm will also offer a variety of activities including a hay pyramid and slides, games, paintball shooting, wagon and horse rides, corn and pumpkin cannons, food trucks, vendors and more. Nightmare Chamber Haunted House: The Randall Theatre’s annual horror haunt, The Nightmare Chamber, will bring all your own worst nightmares to life. This year’s theme will be “Paranormal,” a haunt where the spirit world runs rampant and seeks vengeance on the living. The haunt runs from 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 28; and from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 22, 29-31, and Nov. 4, at 10 E. Third St., the corner of Front and Third Streets in Medford. The Nightmare Chamber is a high-scare haunted house. It is not recommended for children 10 and under, if you are pregnant, prone to seizures or have problems with flashing lights and loud sounds. Regular tickets are $18. Fast passes are $25; a combo ticket to attend both the Nightmare Chamber and the Nightmare on the Rogue haunts can be purchased for $45. Fort Vannoy Farms Harvest Festival: The annual fall festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily throughout October at the farm, 5791 Lower River Road, Grants Pass. Carnival of Chaos Haunted House: Carnival of Chaos is a frightfully fun haunted attraction for the whole family. A new carnival is coming to Southern Oregon and they are “dying” to meet you. The ring master has cast a spell on the Carnival of Chaos where your only chance to make it out alive is to go through his “Three Rings of Fear.” Do you have what it takes to discover the dark past of this haunted carnival and make it out alive to tell your friends? Nightmare on Redwood Haunted House: One Eleven Theatre Company in Grants Pass will host “Nightmare on Redwood” Haunted House. The haunt, located at the Josephine County Fairgrounds, 1451 Fairgrounds Road, Grants Pass, will be open during the evening Thursdays through Sundays, Oct. 19-29, and Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 30-31. Haunted Trolley Tour: What lurks behind the lace curtains and wooden shutters of Jacksonville’s historic homes? Find out during a ride on Jacksonville’s Haunted Trolley. The 30-minute trolley tours take a lighthearted approach to local “hauntings,” featuring multiple sites with special effects and period character interpreters. Tours begin every half-hour from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday, Oct. 26-30. Tickets are $20, $15 for ages 3 to 10 years old, kids 2 and younger are admitted free. Tours start and finish at the Jacksonville Visitor Information Center, 185 N. Oregon St., on the corner of C and Oregon streets. Monster Dash: Run, walk or zombie-stroll to support our local community. The 15th annual Monster Dash Run for Education will have a virtual option and in-person race. Racers can sign up for the 1-mile, 5k or 10k distances — either in-person at Lithia Park in Ashland on race day, Saturday, Oct. 28, or virtually through Tuesday, Oct. 31. An Activity Village near the start and finish line will host free family fun crafts, exhibits, live music, entertainment, contests, and auction items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on race day. All registrants receive a bib and medal. All races are chip-timed, and costumes are encouraged. Proceeds benefit Ashland public schools. Scarecrow Festival: The Southern Oregon Historical Society will hold its 13th annual Scarecrow Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-29, at the historic Hanley Farm, 1053 Hanley Road, Central Point. Everything you need to build an authentic, straw-filled scarecrow will be provided, including frame, straw, clothes accessories and more. Scarecrow kits are $20. When you complete your scarecrow, you can put it in the farm’s field for judging and take it home later, or take it home right away. Also look for children’s games and a variety of activities, including hayrides around the farm. Admission to the farm and activities is free. Tours of Hanley House will be available; tour tickets are $10, $5 for kids 12 and younger. Voting results will be announced at 3 p.m. Sunday.
