Rogue World Music Wassailing: Rogue World Music will hold two community holiday wassailing sessions from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, starting from Ashland’s downtown plaza then traveling in song to many of Ashland’s downtown businesses; and from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, around many of Talent’s downtown businesses, ending with 30 minutes of song on Wagner Plaza to kick off Talent Maker City’s annual Lights on Bikes Celebration. Scout Troops’ Christmas Tree Sale: Ashland Scout Troops 112 and 8112 will hold their 65th annual Christmas Tree Sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Elks Lodge parking lot at Lithia Way and First streets in downtown Ashland. This year, the troops will have farmed trees in the 6- to 8-foot range, as well as local mountain-cut noble firs up to 12 feet tall. Mistletoe, decorated holiday wreaths, hot chocolate and coffee will also be available for purchase. Scouts will be on hand to help select the best tree, carry it to your car and tie it on top, if needed. Sale of these trees helps to support the troops’ activities throughout the year. The troops’ and the Ashland Lions Club’s Christmas Tree Recycling is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 6, and it is recommended that trees are curbside the night of Friday, Jan. 5. The recycled trees are chipped and used throughout parks in Ashland. Jacksonville Victorian Christmas: The annual holiday tradition of a “Victorian Christmas,” is rung in with a Victorian Christmas parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, along California Street. Residents can catch Father Christmas from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 17, at the Beekman Bank, on the corner of California and Third Street, Jacksonville. There is no charge for taking your own photos with Santa. Special activities and tours will continue each weekend through mid-December, including narrated trolley rides. Rogue Winterfest: Josephine County’s largest holiday festival, Rogue Winterfest, will be held at Evergreen Federal Bank’s Bear Hotel, 2101 Spalding Ave., Grants Pass. Each year, the venue undergoes a spectacular transformation into a winter wonderland, bringing the community together to help support the area’s mental health organizations — Family Solutions, Kairos and Options for Southern Oregon. Beekman House Christmas Tour: See how Christmas was celebrated in the late 1800s and learn about holiday tradition origins during guided tours from noon to 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday Dec. 2-17, at the historic Beekman House, 470 E. California St., Jacksonville. One-hour tours will begin every 20 minutes. Learn the Victorian origins of popular Christmas traditions and about typical Victorian presents the Beekmans exchanged, find the good luck German pickle on the Christmas tree, hear how Clement Moore and Charles Dickens reinvented the holiday, and sample one of Mrs. Beekman’s sugar cookies. Also look for “Mrs. Beekman’s Christmas Bazaar,” which has antiques, collectibles, old-fashioned toys, handcrafts, holiday items and more available for purchase. Admission to the “bazaar” is free. Tickets for the tour are $10, $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Tours are not recommended for children under 6 years, and groups are limited to eight people at a time. Medford Winter Lights Festival: Medford Parks and Recreation will hold its all-ages holiday celebration from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Pear Blossom Park near the Commons, at Fourth and Bartlett streets. Magical Christmas Murals: Downtown Grants Pass will sparkle with the fiber-optic dazzle of 20 musical Christmas murals and giant nutcrackers through New Year’s Day. The murals weigh 400 pounds each and include sound systems that play old-fashioned Christmas music. The murals, created by local artisans, are 12 inches thick, 10 feet tall, 5 feet wide and are wired with miles of fiber-optic cable and thousands of points of lights. Soroptimist Holiday Home Tour: Soroptimist International of Medford will hold its 30th annual Holiday Home Tour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. The tour features four distinct properties — a 1965 Colonial style home, a 2012 Craftsman style house, a 1945 cottage style home and a 1934 farm house. Siskiyou Singers: The Siskiyou Singers, led by Artistic Director Mark Reppert, will present its holiday concert “Ancient Melodies,” which will take listeners through a musical time warp. The first half will feature ancient works such as two 16th-century Spanish villancicos, Duruflé’s “Tota Pulchra es Maria,” Rachmaninoff’s “Bogoroditse Devo,” and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina’s “Videntes Stellam Magi;” the second half will include special arrangements and settings of holiday favorites. The program will end with a rendition of “Silent Night” by Ivo Antognini and, as customary for the choir, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” as arranged by John Rutter. Rogue Valley Symphony: The symphony, conducted by Martin Majkut, will present “Home for the Holidays,” a holiday pops concert starring singer and Broadway star Steffanie Leigh, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15; 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16; and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, on the historic Angus Bowmer stage at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 15 S. Southern Oregon Repertory Singers: The 60-voice Southern Oregon Repertory Singers will present its holiday choral concert “In Times of Softest Snow,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, in the Music Recital Hall, 450 S. ‘Million Dollar Quartet Christmas’: The Tony Award-nominated musical “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas” will hit the Craterian stage, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19.
