KOBI, KOTI stations to add 10 p.m. primetime newscast to free COZI-TV

KOBI-TV and KOTI-TV will begin broadcasting a live, primetime news program every night at 10 p.m. in the new year on COZI-TV, a free digital channel covering Southern Oregon and Northern California. The program kicks off Jan. 8.

The announcement comes as NBC5 plans to discontinue a 7 a.m. FOX26 newscast after Dec. 29 and end the station’s long-time agreement to produce a 10 p.m. newscast for FOX26-KMVU TV.

“NBC5 enjoyed a special partnership with FOX26, producing newscasts for them for many years”, said Bob Wise, NBC5/NBC2 vice president and general manager. “It is important that our viewers continue to be able to watch an NBC5 produced newscast at 10 p.m. We are excited to offer NBC5 News at the same time each night, but on a different channel.”

COZI-TV Southern Oregon/Northern California can be seen locally on the following platforms:

• Free over the air on digital channel 5.2 (west of the Cascades)

• Free over the air on digital channel 2.2 (Klamath and Lake County) Charter/Spectrum, channel 188.

• Vyve Broadband in Northern California on Channel 120.

Viewers may need to rescan their digital receiver to view and access the free over-the-air digital channel.
