A Medford man has pleaded not guilty following his arrest last week on charges of sexually abusing two minors. His arrest came after authorities learned he had violated the terms of his release agreement connected to a pending rape and kidnapping case.

Antonio Gonzalez-Salinas, 55, of the 400 block of Park Avenue, was arrested by Jackson County sheriff’s deputies Thursday on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one pertaining to each minor. The same day, an arrest warrant was issued for Gonzalez-Salinas after prosecutors learned the Medford Police Department was investigating allegations the man had sexual contact with the minors while on pre-trial release.

Gonzalez-Salinas was arraigned on the indictment Friday.

He remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bail. Prosecutors had asked for bail to be set at least at $250,000 if the court did not grant their request to keep Gonzalez-Salinas lodged in jail without bail pending trial.

Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Kelly Ravassipour set custody and release conditions for Gonzalez-Salinas, who would undergo pre-trial monitoring and be ordered not to have contact with the victims in the case or any minor children if he is released.

Gonzalez-Salinas was ordered a court-appointed attorney in his latest case. That person’s name was not listed in court records Monday.

Samantha Olson, the prosecutor over the man’s kidnapping and rape case, issued a motion Thursday asking the court to revoke Gonzalez-Salinas’ conditional release after she learned Thursday from Medford police Det. Jenny Newell that the department was investigating the man over the new allegations.

Gonzalez-Salinas had been out of jail since Nov. 6, 2020, when he posted $100,000 bond in his rape and kidnapping case and signed a release agreement stating he would obey all laws while on pre-trial release.

Travel permits requested by Gonzalez-Salinas and approved by the court show he went to Mt. Shasta, California, to camp with his wife July 21 to 23, 2023, and Salton Sea, California, for a retreat by himself Nov. 9 to 14, 2023. A two-day drive with his wife Jan. 2 to 3, to pick up his stepdaughter from the Sacramento airport, was approved. However, a vacation to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Nevada, from Dec. 16 to 30, 2023, was denied.

On Feb. 11, 2020, Gonzalez-Salinas was arrested at his home by Medford police following a report by a 21-year-old female, who said on Feb. 9 Gonzalez-Salinas locked her in the black Lexus he was driving for Uber and raped her, according to previous news reports. The probable cause affidavit in the case is kept under seal.

Gonzalez-Salinas had been dispatched by the victim’s friends to pick her up from downtown Medford, where she had been drinking, and take her to a friend’s house in east Medford, news reports said.

Her friends became concerned when the woman never showed up. A male friend attempted to call the victim’s phone. After a few hang-ups on the other end, he heard Gonzalez-Salinas, who claimed he was having trouble finding the address.

The male friend then called one of the victim’s relatives, who was able to track her phone. The relative and two other people went to the scene where the phone was last pinged. When they arrived, they found the victim upset and crying in the passenger’s seat. Gonzalez-Salinas, meanwhile, was reportedly leaving the scene. A police report of the sexual assault was made, which led to the man’s arrest.

In a previous case from 2011, Gonzalez-Salinas pleaded no contest and was sentenced to three days in jail on a single count of harassment constituting domestic violence.

Gonzalez-Salinas’ next court appearance in his latest criminal case is Jan. 22.

His next court appearance in his ride-sharing rape case is Jan. 31, according to court records viewed Monday. Gonzalez-Salinas is also expected to appear for a March 7 hearing in the case to prepare for trial. The trial is expected to last three days, beginning March 12.
