The Sportsmen’s & Outdoor Recreation Show is open from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at The Expo, 1 Peninger Road in Central Point.

“We just we try to price and present it so it’s affordable for families,” said Joe Pate, show producer for the Sportsmen’s & Outdoor Recreation Show.
Beyond the numerous displays for outdoor recreation at the show, visitors will have the opportunity to meet a 600-pound king of the jungle — Maasai the lion — who’s appeared in numerous films and TV shows.
Maasai — a part of the Working Wildlife animal training company in California — will be at the show, along with the new ATV Fusion display showcasing the four-wheel vehicles, ATV equipment, trailers and accessories.
The ATV Fusion display will feature a wide range of four wheelers, from dune buggies to to snow cats, Pate said.
Other highlights at the Sportsmen’s & Outdoor Recreation Show include: custom fishing rod builder Ryan Toy of Knot4hire who will build rods in front of attendees, Sasquatch America returning with their Sasquatch Town Hall which will provide information on Bigfoot sightings and a 10-foot Sasquatch statue to take pictures with, RV displays, boat displays and more.
Visitors can enjoy the show at whatever level they’d like, whether they simply want to check out new advancements in outdoor industries or purchase their next big toy.
“I hope to think that we’ve created an environment of assembling various attributes of the industry in a low pressure environment,” Pate said. “It’s a lifestyle and it’s a culture that try to tap into every year.”
The Sportsmen’s Theatre will bring multiple presentations on topics such as wolves in the Northwest, kayak fishing, tracking Bigfoot and more, with expert speakers such as Dave Jones, Cody Smith, Shawn Kollie and others.
Organizers have added numerous activities to keep the kids entertained throughout the show with a climbing wall, kids’ fish pond, archery range, laser shot and more, Pate said.
The event will also contain representatives from government agencies including Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Oregon Hunters Association, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and more.
People attending the show can sign up for multiple giveaways — from a Hewescraft boat package from Seven Feathers Casino Resort to a lingcod fishing trip from Beaver Valley Baits.
