With the withdrawal of one of two candidates, the race for Jackson County’s Democratic nominee in the race for county commissioner will be uncontested.

Eagle Point pediatrician Rebecca Mueller withdrew her candidacy Friday, Jackson County Elections records show.

She said in her withdrawal filing that she would rather support the other candidate in the May 21 primary, Denise Krause, “who had not decided to run when I filed,” Mueller wrote.

Mueller’s candidate filing was processed at 9:57 a.m. Monday, March 11, according to the Jackson County Clerk’s Office timestamp. Krause’s filing was processed at 1:58 p.m. March 12 — the filing deadline in the primary race.

Krause works as a consultant at Health Data Analytics LLC and is the chief petitioner in the Jackson County for All campaign.

Jackson County for All successfully petitioned to add three measures to the upcoming ballot. Primary voters will decide whether to make the elected position of county commissioner nonpartisan, whether to expand the Board of Commissioners from three to five seats and whether to reduce commissioner salaries.
