Former South Medford standout and Oregon State guard Donovyn Hunter (4) drives against Notre Dame guard Anna DeWolfe (13) during a Sweet Sixteen game in the women's NCAA Tournament.

Oregon State women’s basketball has lost another starter to the NCAA transfer portal in point guard Donovyn Hunter.

The 6-foot Medford freshman is the fourth Beaver to enter the portal since the Beavers’ 2023-24 season ended with an Elite Eight run on March 31. Earlier, starters Talia von Oelhoffen and Timea Gardiner went to the portal looking for a new school, as well as reserves Martha Pietsch and Adlee Blacklock.

Hunter started in 34 of 35 games during her first year at Oregon State, and logged a team-high 972 minutes. Hunter averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Hunter had nine double-digit scoring games, including Beavers’ final two games of the season against Notre Dame and eventual national champion South Carolina.

Hunter earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team and was All-Defense honorable mention in the conference.

With Hunter unlikely to return, Oregon State probably turns to freshman Kennedie Shuler as the point guard next season. Shuler, a graduate of Barlow High, played in 33 games during her rookie campaign at OSU.
