- Murder defendant Dylan McLeod attends a hearing in Jackson County Circuit Court July 14.
A Medford man accused with two co-defendants of murdering another man and allegedly stuffing the body in a refrigerator in 2021 will face a jury in December.
Dylan McLeod, 25, is scheduled to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court on Dec. 9 for the start of what could be a two-week trial.
Jurors will hear about McLeod’s alleged involvement in the murder of Aaron Stitt, 24, on Sept. 25, 2021, in Medford. McLeod has pleaded not guilty to the accusations. His brother, Austin McLeod, 28, and friend Brycen Scofield, 23, were convicted of the crimes in 2023.
Dylan McLeod was originally scheduled to go to trial starting June 3, but co-counsel, Andrew Simrin, filed a motion just days before requesting the two-week trial be canceled because lead counsel Keith Goody would be unavailable during that time due to a family emergency.
Simrin wrote that he hoped Dylan McLeod’s trial dates could be reset for early December, and Jackson County District Attorney Beth Heckert, the case’s lead prosecutor, had no objection.
Dylan McLeod’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 1, when he will sit in on a pre-trial conference in his supplying contraband case. McLeod pleaded not guilty to the charge stemming from a Aug. 6, 2022, incident where, prosecutors say, he introduced suboxone into the Jackson County Jail with two co-defendants. Jonathan Taylor Arce, 40, and Dylan McLeod’s sister, Aspen Marie McLeod, 29, later pleaded guilty.
McLeod’s contraband case has been set over before due to the fact that his murder case has not resolved, according to court filings.
