Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in which a minivan hit and killed a pedestrian outside Ashland the night of June 29.

A New Mexico man was hit and killed by a minivan outside Ashland on Saturday night, according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported at about 9:35 p.m. and took place in the 500 block of South Valley View Road, the sheriff’s office said. The victim, 50-year-old Mark David Langille, was taken to a local hospital and died.

The van’s driver has been taken into custody, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, the release said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant to perform a blood draw on the suspect, whose vehicle was still on scene when emergency personnel arrived, the release said.

If charges are filed, the suspect’s name will be made public, the release said.
