Dogs, heat and hot pavement
Thanks so much for your story on Central Point’s “Hot Paws” program.
I wish people in Ashland would be more aware of the pain (and damage) they are causing when they take their dogs out in the excessive heat. The pavement and asphalt are unbearably hot. And yeah, people ought to try walking barefoot with their dogs. They might have a better understanding of the pain they are inflicting on their animals.

Cow Creek supports La Clinica
The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation has been an enthusiastic supporter of the work of La Clinica, most recently with a $15,000 grant.
This grant will help fund the work of La Clinica at a low-barrier shelter in Ashland, operated by Opportunities for Housing, Resources, and Assistance, or OHRA. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and many others that support our work. By offering grants like this one, the foundation is improving lives around our region.
