- The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team arrested suspects Kendall Jorgensen, 35, of Ashland, and Christopher Drezek, 38, of Glendale on arson charges in connection with an Aug. 3 explosion in Glendale believed to be caused during the production of the highly flammable marijuana extract known as Butane Honey Oil.
GLENDALE — A butane hash oil lab explosion Saturday in Douglas County led to two arrests, including one suspect identified by police as an Ashland resident.
Glendale Fire responded to a 911 call around 4:15 p.m. Saturday for a fire in the 1400 block of Tunnel Road in Glendale. The structure, a 1,500-square-foot building, was a total loss, but firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call and notified the county’s interagency narcotics team that the fire was likely caused by an illegal butane hash oil lab.
The narcotics team obtained a search warrant and “found evidence indicating this was a suspected illegal marijuana extraction lab and production facility,” according to a press release.
During the execution of the search warrant, Kendall Jorgensen, 35, of Ashland, and Christopher Drezek, 38, of Glendale, were arrested.
Next to the residence, in the driveway, was an undamaged semi-trailer full of processed marijuana bud, court records show. The semi-trailer was registered to Jorgensen.
According to court records, the total weight of the processed, undamaged marijuana bud was approximately 5,343 pounds.
While executing the search warrant, DINT detectives allegedly found packaged butane hash oil in a U.S. Postal Service postal box in Jorgensen’s room. They found multiple Pacific Power bills with Jorgensen’s name on them and numerous other controlled substances in Jorgensen’s bedroom, according to court records.
Jorgensen allegedly admitted to managing the illegal marijuana operation at the property. He said the owner of the property is the boss of the operation and they process approximately 50 pounds of marijuana a day and extract it into butane hash oil, according to court records.
Drezek also had psilocybin mushrooms in his bedroom, court records show. Drezek allegedly told police he was just a laborer and physically moves items to where he is told to move them.
There were four bedrooms in the residence and allegedly four individuals living on the property. There were two unidentified men who fled the property after the fire started, according to court records.
During the execution of the search warrant, multiple firearms were found, according to a press release.
Drezek was charged with unauthorized delivery of marijuana, first-degree arson incident manufacturing cannabinoid, unauthorized manufacturing of marijuana, two counts of unauthorized possession of marijuana and unauthorized manufacturing of marijuana.
Jorgensen was charged with unauthorized manufacturing of marijuana, first-degree arson incident manufacturing cannabinoid, unauthorized delivery of marijuana, two counts of unauthorized possession of marijuana, unauthorized possession of a controlled substance schedule I, two counts of unauthorized possession of MDMA and unauthorized possession of a controlled substance schedule II.
DINT detectives said they are actively seeking information about the whereabouts of the two other people.
