The record-setting heat wave that dominated July in Baker City broke multiple temperature records, including the all-time record for hottest month.

The average high temperature for the 31 days was 94.9 degrees at the Baker City Airport.

That didn’t barely nip the old record, either.

The previous record was 92.2 degrees, set in July 2021.

In addition to breaking multiple daily high temperature records, including 105 degrees on three days, the heat wave pushed the temperature to 100 or above on 10 days during July. That’s the most for any single month at the airport, where records date to 1943.

The previous record was five such days, set in August 1961.

This July also set the all-time record for most triple-digit days in a calendar year.

After a brief cooldown in late July, the heat returned with a high of 103 degrees on Thursday, Aug. 1. That broke the daily record of 102, set in 1961, and extended this year’s record of triple-digit days to 11.

Among the few temperature records that have emerged unscathed this summer is the hottest day on record at the airport.

That is 109 degrees, set on Aug. 10, 2018. That record was tied on Aug. 2. The runner-up is 108, on Aug. 9, 2018.
