According to the Douglas Fire Protective Association, night crews aggressively worked on building lines on the approximately 2,000-acre fire and addressing spot fires.

“Structural, wildland, landowner and heavy equipment resources continued to arrive throughout the day,” according to a press release.

The air attack is grounded as of 11 a.m. Sunday due to limited visibility. “If and when smoke conditions clear, DFPA will launch aerial resources,” the press release said.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has issued several evacuation notices for the area, which can be found at dcso.com/270/Evacuations.

All residences on Crume Ranch Lane and Devil’s Knob Road, aka USFS Road #1610, as well as a residence in the Hamlin Prairie area, are under a Level 3 (“Go!”) evacuation level, a press release issued from the sheriff’s office shortly before 4 p.m. said.

All residences on Tiller Trail Highway, from the intersection of Devil’s Knob (USFS 1610) south to milepost 31 on Tiller Trail Highway are under a Level 2 (“Be set”) evacuation level, the release said. “This includes all residences between these two points.”

And all of the residences on Tiller Trail Highway from milepost 31 to 34, all homes on Pickett Butte, as well as the Pickett Butte Lookout Tower are under a Level 1 (“Be ready”) evacuation level, the release said.

An American Red Cross emergency evacuation shelter has been set up at Canyonville School, at 124 N. Main St. in Canyonville. “The shelter will remain open to residents who have been evacuated, need to charge electronic devices or otherwise need assistance,” the release said.

The Tiller Trail Highway is closed at the South Umpqua Road intersection just north of the Tiller Ranger Station, as well as just south of Devil’s Knob Road (USFS 1610), the release said. “Residents who can show proof of residency beyond the closure will be permitted through (the) area but should expect delays,” the release said.

Douglas County residents can receive emergency notifications through Douglas Alerts at dcso.com/alerts. “This system will be used to notify residents in an emergency, including wildfire evacuations,” the release said.

Anyone who is already signed up should do a “wellness check” on their profile to make sure their information is still current, the release said.
