Members of the Family Motor Coach Association gather at a previous international convention and expo. The gathering returns to Redmond August 14-17.

Hundreds of RV owners from throughout North America are tooling to Redmond for a four-day convention focusing on all aspects of RV life.

More than 700 vehicles plan to converge on the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center through Aug. 17 as part of the Family Motor Coach Association’s 109th International Convention and RV Expo. More than 100 educational sessions and seminars are set to discuss a range of RV topics ranging from tire maintenance to technology, from safe driving to microwave-convection cooking, and a travel guide for RV trips to Alaska.

Attendees also will be able to tour a selection of new recreational vehicles at the expo, which will take place during the event.

Other organized activities include games and entertainment. Attendees also will have time for plenty of socializing with fellow RV owners during the week while taking part in organized and informal gatherings.

The FMCA, headquartered in Cincinnati, is an international organization for families who own and enjoy the use of recreation vehicles. It has nearly 125,000 active members.

Members of the public are welcome. For those who want to view only the RV displays and the supplier and component exhibits, daily admission is $10 per person or $25 for a family. Children 12 and under are free with an accompanying adult. Individuals with an active military ID are admitted free as well.

Those interested in exhibits and also attend seminars and entertainment may purchase a daily pass for $50 per person.

Exhibits will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

On Friday, a seminar geared expressly for people exploring the idea of RV ownership will take place with a panel of RV owners sharing their knowledge. “RV Curious? Come Join Us!” will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Lava Room of the South Sister Building. This seminar is open to all.

Free public parking will be available by following the signs to the Passport/Public Parking area near the Galloway Lane Public Gate off Central Oregon Drive.
