- Medford Rogues head coach Nate Esposito at Harry & David Field Friday evening.
The Medford Rogues will be undergoing a third search for a manager in as many offseasons after announcing Tuesday that Nate Esposito will not be returning to the collegiate wood-bat baseball franchise for the summer of 2025.
After serving as a graduate assistant at Oregon State, Rogues co-owner Dave May said Esposito has accepted a staff position with Cal State Northridge and therefore will be unable to continue his duties here in Southern Oregon.
“We are excited for coach Esposito,” May said in Tuesday’s news release. “Nate was very transparent from the very beginning that if an opportunity arose like Cal State Northridge, he would have to make the difficult decision to step away. We are fortunate to have worked with Nate and his assistants who are truly world class coaches. We can’t wait to track and follow their successes within the college and professional ranks for years to come.”
In Esposito’s lone year at the helm of the Rogues, which got a later start due to the Beavers’ run to the Super Regionals, Medford accumulated a 27-20 record and finished fourth during the inaugural season of Pacific Empire League.
The Healdsburg Prune Packers won the debut PEL title by topping the Lincoln Potters in their championship series.
A native of Granite Bay, California, Esposito had replaced Parker Berberet, who served one season as manager after three years as an assistant coach to Bill Rowe.
In Tuesday’s news release, Esposito said: “Leaving the Medford Rogues has been one of the most difficult decisions of my career, but I am forever grateful for the support and kindness the Medford community has shown me. The people here are truly special, and they’ve done so much for me during my time as head coach. The players are incredibly lucky to play in such a welcoming and passionate environment. Medford is more than just a place to play baseball — it’s a family, and I will always cherish the memories and relationships I’ve built here. Thank you for everything.”
Esposito was the fourth former Beaver at the reins in six years for the Rogues following Tyler Graham (2018), Rowe (2020-22) and Berberet (2023). Sean Gallagher guided the Rogues in 2019.
Rogues general manager Jeff Weiss will be leading an immediate search for the franchise’s next manager as it enters its 13th summer and looks to build on its affiliation within the PEL.
