Firefighters are attacking a blaze north of Highway 140, off Salt Creek and Gardner roads.

Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest Oregon District says a fire crew is managing to contain and put out a 3- to 5-acre blaze burning north of Highway 140 off Salt Creek and Gardner roads.

Firefighters with ODF and Lake Creek Rural Fire District responded late Sunday afternoon to a wildfire that sparked within the perimeter of the Salt Creek Fire, ODF said.

“Resources will remain engaged on the fire and continue building line before mopping up,” ODF reported in a 5:30 p.m. Facebook post, which the agency said would be its final update “unless conditions significantly change.”

The fire’s cause is under investigation, the update said.

In addition to a crew, the incident has drawn several engines, a bulldozer, a water tender and air resources, ODF said.
