Arrests

Sexual abuse — Justin Joseph Atto, 31, of the 2600 block of Granite Court, White City. Medford police arrested Atto Thursday on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, using a child in the display of sexually explicit content and first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. Atto was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bail.

Theft, robbery — David Salvador Chavez Gonzalez, 22, no known address. Medford police arrested Chavez Gonzalez Thursday on charges of third-degree robbery, third-degree theft, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and harassment. Chavez Gonzalez was lodged in jail and released on his own recognizance.

Drugs — Isaac Phillip Escoto, 30, of the 400 block of Western Avenue, Medford. Medford police arrested Escoto Thursday on charges of unlawful manufacture of a Schedule II controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance, unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and a parole violation for felon in possession of a firearm. Escoto was lodged in jail without bail.

Failure to appear — Amber Latisha Mercado, 44, no known address. Central Point police arrested Mercado Thursday on warrants for failure to appear on charges of fourth-degree assault-domestic abuse, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and second-degree criminal mischief, along with charges of first-degree theft, reckless driving and hit-and-run vehicle-property damage. Mercado was lodged in jail on $25,000 bail.

Failure to report as a sex offender — Josh Raymond Jace Russell, 43, no known address. Medford police arrested Russell Friday on a charge of failure to report as a sex offender. Russell was lodged in jail and released on his own recognizance.

Arson — Amber Diana Cortney Smith, 51, of the 5900 block of Upton Road, Central Point. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Smith Friday on a charge of first-degree arson. Smith was lodged in jail without bail.

Disorderly conduct, assault on a peace officer — Marissa Elizabeth Winters, 35, no known address. Central Point police arrested Winters Saturday on charges of second-degree disorderly conduct, assault on a peace officer, aggravated harassment, interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest. Winters was lodged in jail without bail.

Fugitive — Megan Marie Yandell, 35, of the 11000 block of DeSalvo Road, Montague, California. Medford police arrested Yandell Sunday on a warrant as a fugitive wanted in California. Yandell was lodged in jail without bail.

Theft, parole violation — Stephen Shaw Scates, 58, of the 100 block of Ashland Avenue, Medford. Medford police arrested Scates Sunday on charges of second-degree theft, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation for first-degree arson. Scates was lodged in jail without bail.
