- Fire District 4, in addition to hosting a water pickup site, provided non-potable water, in tanks, for residents to fill containers for flushing toilets during last week's water emergency.
The Oregon Health Authority has lifted the boil water advisory for the Hiland Water Corporation public water system in Shady Cove, officials said Tuesday.
Last week, hundreds of customers went without water for nearly five days after a Hiland system pump failed. An emergency declaration was issued Thursday, but water was restored around 11 p.m. that night. In the interim, bottled water was handed out to residents, and an emergency water distribution center was set up at Fire Station 4 on Highway 62.
The outage began early Monday, affecting hundreds of residents served by Hiland Water Corporation, a subsidiary of NW Natural and one of more than two dozen public water systems operated within the city.
Water quality testing has confirmed that the water is safe for consumption, per the OHA drinking water standards, Jackson County Emergency Management said in a news release Tuesday.
The Jackson County Emergency Operations Center has been deactivated, the release said.
