Medford police are investigating an early morning stabbing at a car wash near Crater Lake Highway and Delta Waters Road, authorities said in a Saturday news release.

At 6:10 a.m., a Medford officer was conducting extra patrol at the Delta Waters Car Wash and contacted occupants of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot, the release from the Medford Police Department said. One of the occupants had been assaulted with a knife, and the suspect had fled just prior to the officer’s arrival, police said.

The 44-year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to the release.

“Officers immediately established a perimeter in the area, and an on-duty Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy K9 assisted with a search of the area. The suspect was not located,” the release said. “An MPD detective responded to the scene and has interviewed involved parties and witnesses.”

Detectives are developing suspect information and are not releasing a description or name at this time, according to the release.

“It is believed that the victim and suspect know each other, and this was an assault stemming from a previous disagreement,” police said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available, the release said. The case number is 24-15042.
