People are invited to enjoy treats, tunes and more at the Oregon Center for Creative Learning’s Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon during a pair of events this weekend.

From 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, OCCL will host a Cupcake Kickoff as part of a “capital campaign to complete the final renovations of The Children’s Museum,” located at 413 W. Main St. in Medford, the organization said in a news release.

The museum, which draws more than 125,000 visitors annually, is one of two entities operating under the nonprofit OCCL’s umbrella, along with The Ivy School preschool.

Guests “can visit, tour the museum, taste cupcakes baked in the Culinary Annex and learn more about plans to add an additional 12,000 square feet of museum space, preschool classrooms and event space in 2025,” the release said.

From noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, the museum will host Artists in the Amphitheater, “a special day of musical art activities for children and families,” the release said.

“The event will include musical performances, a ‘petting zoo’ of instruments, art activities and culinary treats.”

In addition, people can get a 10% discount on museum memberships that day, the release said.

Sponsored by Lithia4Kids, Artists in the Amphitheater came about through a partnership between the Children’s Museum and the Rogue Valley Symphony, the release said.
