Candidates line up to represent region in Oregon Legislature

Residents of Medford, Ashland and White City are vying for seats in Salem this coming election. Here is a closer look at their prior governmental experience and the candidate they will face in the November elections.

State Senate

  • District 29: Republican Diane Linthicum of Beatty, who is the wife of outgoing state senator Dennis Linthicum and his former chief of staff, will face Democrat challenger Dylan Gutridge of White City, who works as a Certified Nursing Assistant, for the state senator seat covering portions of Jackson, Klamath, Lake, Deschutes and Crook counties. In state election filings, Linthicum lists as prior governmental experience that she was an elected precinct committee person for the Klamath County Republican Party; Gutridge in his election filing lists no prior government experience.

State HouseDistrict 5: Incumbent Democrat Representative Pam Marsh of Ashland will face Republican challenger Katherine Green, who works as a vice president of Armitel Incorporated of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and is president of the Oregon Chapter of Children’s Health Defense. Marsh’s prior governmental experience includes being on the Ashland Planning Commission from 2006-2012, being on Ashland’s City Council from 2012-2016 and serving in the Oregon House of Representatives since 2017. Green lists as her prior governmental experience being a board member and chair of the Marion County, Florida, Soil and Water Conservation District.

  • District 6: Incumbent Republican Representative Kim Wallan of Medford will face Democrat challenger Lilia Caballero of Medford, who currently works as a cultural outreach coordinator for the Medford Police Department. Wallan’s prior governmental experience has included serving on Medford City Council and Medford School Board. She was first elected to the Oregon Legislature in 2018. Caballero has served on the Medford School Board since 2015.
