More than half of Jackson County voters and a strong majority of Josephine County voters cast their ballots to elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election, according to preliminary election data from the Oregon Secretary of State’s office.
Some 51.72% or 59,812 of Jackson County’s 115,635 presidential election votes went to the Republican nominee, while Democrat nominee and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris got 45.08% or 52,130 votes.
Statewide, Trump got 42.25% of Oregon’s 1,726,611 votes counted in the presidential election. Harris garnered 54.53% or 941,518 votes to win the state, but she lost the election and conceded the race to Trump Wednesday afternoon.
Jackson County’s strong support for the GOP candidate is clear when looking at political party affiliations locally. The 50,304 registered Republicans in Jackson County is roughly 15% higher than the county’s 43,663 registered Democrats.
Josephine County’s support for Trump was showing a 10-point lead over Jackson County, according to numbers available at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.
