The 31st annual Ashland Festival of Light begins every year the day after Thanksgiving, which this year is Friday, Nov. 24, to start the holiday season. Santa’s Parade will kick off the event at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by entertainment on the Plaza and the Grand Illumination, with a countdown led by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will flick the switch on more than a million lights all over downtown. Project FeederWatch: Volunteers can learn how to identify and help experts count birds that visit feeders at 9 a.m. alternate Saturdays beginning Nov. 9 and running through March 15, at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Gingerbread Jubilee: The annual Gingerbread Jubilee is one of the Rogue Valley’s most unique holiday traditions. Talent Turkey Trot: The Talent Turkey Trot, hosted by the nonprofit Southern Oregon Runners, is set for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Cummins building parking lot — otherwise known as the old Talent Walmart — located at 300 W. The Kids Dash is set for 7:45 a.m.; the 8-mile run starts at 8:15 a.m.; 5k race begins at 8:30 a.m.; and the 2-mile fun run will start at 8:40 a.m. Registration fees are $15-$20; youth ages 18 and under can participate for free.
