Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center received a major donation from Rogue Credit Union in December to support its pediatrics unit of the Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

With a total of $246,794 raised by the credit union, the yearly contribution set a new record and supports the unit, which provides some of the only specialized care for children in the region.

“Today was a wonderful opportunity to share special moments with the children and families receiving life-saving care at Asante, reinforcing Rogue’s commitment to living, giving and supporting local,” Matt Stephenson, president and CEO of Rogue Credit Union, said in a press release.

Rogue Credit Union leaders and the credit union’s mascot Wally the Wolf visited the hospital on Dec. 13 to present the donation, also bringing a wagon loaded with Wally the Wolf stuffed animals for children who are receiving care.

“Because of Rogue Credit Union members and employees giving what they can, Asante is able to care for thousands of local children and build upon programs and services to provide wrap-around support to families,” Stephenson said. “It is truly a special partnership, and one that we look forward to celebrating every year.”

Rogue Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative and nonprofit with branches across Southern Oregon.
