UPDATE: Downtown Medford structure fire contained; road closures in effect near Front/10th streets

Medford Fire Department crews are battling three-alarm structure fire at a downtown Medford building.
MFD upgraded the fire to a three-alarm blaze at 1:15 p.m.
The building is near Front and 10th streets, close to the Medford library.
“We ask that you please avoid the area to allow responders to work safely and efficiently,” Medford Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

The downtown Medford structure fire near Front and 10th streets has been contained, Medford fire officials said.
“The fire has been contained to the building of origin, but there is still a heavy resource presence in the area,” a Facebook update said.
“Power and gas have been shut off for the entire block. There is no further threat to surrounding areas.
“Road closures remain in effect as crews continue their work. You may still see smoke in the area as we make substantial progress toward full containment.”
Central Avenue southbound is completely open. Eighth Street eastbound from Front Street to Central.
The Medford library has closed in the vicinity.
