PRESCOTT, Ariz. — With three unanswered match victories to end the night, the No. 9-ranked Southern Oregon men’s wrestling team came back to steal a 25-17 win from No. 5 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in a battle of Cascade Conference title contenders on Saturday at Eagle Gym.

The Raiders trailed 17-12 entering the 184-pound bout, where No. 14-ranked Adrian Chavez-Morales swung the lead in their favor with a first-round pin of Tauataina Tuikolongahau.

They added a bonus point in a Top 25 matchup at 197, getting No. 7 Asher Ruchti’s 17-3 major decision over No. 25 Trenton Bloomquist, and heavyweight Ben Hughes sealed the outcome with a 7-2 upset of No. 20 Corbin Hayes.

The Raiders improved to 16-3 and have now logged the second-most dual wins in team history. With three duals left — the next coming at home on Jan. 31 against Corban and Feb. 1 against Providence (Mont.) — they’re two wins away from matching the SOU record held by the 2008-09 squad.

They got another critical upset at 157 from No. 20 Dylan Straley, who knocked off No. 11 Logan Hancey by 6-5 decision. Their first wins of the night came from No. 11 Dylan Clark (133) by technical fall and No. 2 Evan Potter (141) by major decision.

All four of ERAU’s wins were recorded by top-nine individuals. The Eagles fell to 7-5 on the season.

His bucket started a 9-0 run that played out over the first 92 seconds of the second, stretching SOU’s advantage to 16 points.
