Sheriff’s deputies arrest armed robbery suspect in Shady Cove after brief standoff

Jonathan Allen Rusch, 24, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was arrested at a Shady Cove gas station Sunday within 20 minutes of an initial report of an armed robbery at nearby 62’s Burgers and Brews. 

Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Wisconsin man Sunday in Shady Cove after an alleged armed robbery.

Jonathan Allen Rusch, 24, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, allegedly robbed the 62’s Burgers and Brews Sunday evening but was arrested at a nearby Shady Cove gas station minutes later, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Emergency dispatch received a call at 5:44 p.m. Sunday for an armed robbery at the restaurant in the 21170 block of Highway 62, the release said. Sheriff’s deputies responded and located the suspect at 5:55 p.m. at the Shady Cove Chevron gas station, authorities said.

Rusch was arrested without incident at 6:02 p.m. after a brief standoff, according to the release.

Rusch faces charges of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail, records show.

The case remains under investigation and no additional information is available for release at this time, the sheriff’s office said.
