- Northbound vehicles approach the chain-up location at Exit 1 on Interstate 5 at the Oregon-California border at 9 a.m. Monday.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has instituted a “conditional closure” over the Interstate 5 Siskiyou Summit for all lanes as heavy snowfall over the region continues for a second day.
“A conditional closure is in effect on I-5 over the Siskiyou Pass,” ODOT announced in an email around 2:50 p.m. “(This effects) both northbound and southbound traffic. Expect delays. (See) Tripcheck.com for updates and latest conditions.”
ODOT said the interstate is affected from mileposts 1 (Oregon-California border) to 11.
(Updated at 6:52 p.m.)
ODOT: SW Oregon: Interstate 5, mileposts 1-11: I-5 over the Siskiyou Pass is back open northbound and southbound. Winter conditions remain. Chains are required. As a reminder, don’t stop in the roadway, especially in the fast lane, to put on chains. Pull over as far as safely possible to avoid blocking the road for through traffic.
