Project FeederWatch: Volunteers can learn how to identify and help experts count birds that visit feeders at 9 a.m. alternate Saturdays beginning Nov. 9 and running through March 15, at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Rally for Reed: Local musicians will rally together to host a benefit concert event for their friend and colleague Aaron Reed (of the Brothers Reed) to cover medical bills during his ongoing treatment for cancer at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at The Holly Theatre, 226 W. 6th St., Medford. Bird Walk: Jim Hostick, of the Rogue Valley Audubon Society, leads slow-paced, 1½-mile walks at 8:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at Denman Wildlife Area, off Touvelle or Agate roads, in Eagle Point. ‘Windows in Time’ History Lecture: As part of the free “Windows in Time” library lecture series, local historian Larry Mullaly will present “Medford Celebrates Oregon’s 1934 Diamond Jubilee” at noon Wednesday, March 5, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., and again at noon, Wednesday, March 12, the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. At the height of the Great Depression, Medford, a city of 11,000 inhabitants, staged a series of history-themed parades, exhibitions, contests and entertainments unlike anything Southern Oregon had ever seen. The week-long State Diamond Anniversary Jubilee of 1934 was an event for the ages. Mullaly will examine personalities, ideas and circumstances that led to the great event. ‘Windows in Time’ History Lecture: As part of the free “Windows in Time” library lecture series, local historian Larry Mullaly will present “Medford Celebrates Oregon’s 1934 Diamond Jubilee” at noon Wednesday, March 12, the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. At the height of the Great Depression, Medford, a city of 11,000 inhabitants, staged a series of history-themed parades, exhibitions, contests and entertainments unlike anything Southern Oregon had ever seen.
