The Rogue Valley chapter of the League of Women Voters and the Oregon School Boards Association will offer a presentation about what the role of a public school board director entails and offer information on how to run for a seat on school board.

The meeting is open to the public and is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., Medford.

Discussion items at the meeting will include:

• What is the role of the individual school board member?

• What authority does a school board have?

• How is a school board superintendent chosen?

• Who can run for a public school board seat?

The deadline for filing to run for a school board is March 20. Oregon public school board elections will be held on May 20.
