In support of local journalism
We are in scary, challenging times right now, so supporting local journalism is increasingly vital.
I have been a longtime Times subscriber and know we are fortunate here not to be in such a news desert as much of our country.
I am also grateful for our two senators who had virtual town halls Tuesday night, March 4, taking questions from their constituents all over Oregon on this current administration, concerning all the people who are being hurt by it.
The Trump administration wants to shut out the Fourth Estate if it doesn’t agree with every thing he does in order to support the super-rich. Timothy Snyder’s widely respected book, “On Tyranny,” points out that the suppression of a free press is one of the first goals of totalitarianism.
As our country faces a potential recession because of the tariffs and hundreds of thousands jobs lost and with services being eliminated, all in order to support tax cuts for the rich, we need our free press more than ever to shine a light on what’s at stake for our country.
