Adopt a pet: Trooper

Published 6:30 am Thursday, March 13, 2025

Age: Trooper, a beautiful 4-year-old Labrador retriever mix.

Personality: Intelligent, energetic, enthusiastic, affectionate, social.

Highlights:  Trooper is a handsome and intelligent Black Labrador (and possibly Rottweiler due to his brown paws) mix with a gentle nature and an easygoing attitude. This handsome guy knows “sit” and is ready to build upon his training with an adopter who can work with his continued training. Trooper is smart and loves to be rewarded for his brains with treats, which make training sessions even better.

With a medium energy level, Trooper will enjoy regular walks and playtime without requiring constant activity. He adores playing with tennis balls and larger, as he will romp around the yard with his treasures. Trooper isn’t a fan of having his feet touched and doesn’t care for livestock, so a home without farm animals would be best.

Availability: Trooper is available at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix. The shelter is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins welcomed. No appointment needed. View Jackson County’s adoptable pets: jacksoncountyor.gov/pets.
