It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Reid, Jr., age 76, of Medford, Oregon. He was born in Medford on Feb 1, 1949, and passed away on a beautiful, sunny day in March.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray, Sr. and Inez; two brothers, Kenny and Greg and his three rescued dogs, Lucky, Casper and Buster. He is survived by his wife, Debby; daughters Debbie, Linda and Chanel; brother, Walter; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Ray graduated from Medford Senior High in 1967 and was drafted during the VietNam conflict, where he served in the Navy. Ray had several passions including building and racing stock cars competitively at the Posse Grounds and remained an avid Nascar enthusiast. In addition, he was known for welding and custom fabrication work, and he obtained a pilot license and enjoyed flying his Taylor Craft.

In 2023 Ray was diagnosed with a rare disease, Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy. His final two years were spent at Orchardview House, an adult foster home in Central Point, where caregivers developed a fondness for Ray and treated him and his frequent visitors like family.

Ray was a beloved gentleman and will be remembered by his family and many friends for his sense of humor, generosity and kindheartedness. He will be dearly missed and remembered.

A memorial to honor Ray’s military service is planned for Sunday, March 30, 2025; 11:00 am; at the Southern Oregon Speedway Dragstrip, 6900 Kershaw Rd., Central Point. Afterwards, friends and loved ones are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Touvelle Lodge (adults only) 9367 Table Rock Rd., Central Point. Wear a racing shirt or hat if you have one! Complimentary cake and coffee service provided; food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Lodge.
