Spring thunderstorms mostly a threat north of Rogue Valley; wind advisory in effect locally

Springtime thunderstorms could hit Southern Oregon on Wednesday, but the bulk of the turbulent weather is expected to the north in Douglas County and through the entire Willamette Valley, according to the National Weather Service office in Medford.
The threat of severe storms is most prominent from Eugene north to Portland and into Washington state, the weather service said Wednesday morning. Eugene has a 90 percent chance of severe storms after 2 p.m., with Salem and Portland at an 80 percent chance to experience severe weather between 2 and 4 p.m.
The threat of storms in the Rogue Valley is pegged at 30 percent after 11 a.m. Roseburg has a 60 percent chance of storms after 11 a.m.
A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday for the Interstate 5 corridor from Ashland to Medford and calls for south winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph expected, the weather service said in a post.
