Three swimmers won gold medals for the Rogue Rapids swim team at the 2025 Northwest Age Group Regionals in Boise, Idaho, last weekend thanks to the efforts of Brienne Chamberland, James Geraghty and Myles Anderson.
This year’s regional meet was capped at 600 of the region’s fastest swimmers, representing 67 teams from Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.
Chamberland took gold in the 100-yard breaststroke among 13-year-old girls with a time of 1 minute, 8.14 seconds.
Chamberland advanced to finals in all six of her events, placing second in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.38) and 200 backstroke (2:13.41), fifth in the 50 freestyle (25.34), sixth in the 200 freestyle (2:05.65) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (56.40).
Geraghty, 13, placed among the top five in all six of his events. He won the 200 backstroke in decisive fashion with a 1:58.80 to become the only swimmer in his age group to race under the two-minute mark.
Geraghty also placed second in the 100 backstroke (55.96), third in the 50 freestyle (23.93) and 500 freestyle (5:00.16), fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:51.61) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (51.88).
Anderson, 16, was a late meet entry and competed in two races, winning the 100 freestyle for boys age 15-18 with a 48.41, a new Senior Sectionals qualifying time. He finished fourth in the 200 freestyle with a 1:50.59.
Naiya DeSilva, 12, made finals in all six of her events as well for the Rapids. DeSilva placed third in the 100 butterfly (1:03.02), sixth in the 50 butterfly (28.38) and 100 yard backstroke (1:06.73), seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:47.94) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (59.22) and 200 freestyle (2:11.74).
Coming off his state championship win in the 50-yard freestyle in February, Chuma Chiedozi was one of the few 9 year olds to qualify and compete in the 10&under category at the regional meet. Chiedozi finished 13th in the 50 freestyle (30.02) and 50 backstroke (39.40), 18th in the 100 freestyle (1:19.13) and 19th in the 50 breaststroke (46.76).
With just five swimmers competing, the Rapids placed 21st overall out of 67 teams with 98 points.
In earlier Rogue Rapids action, Eleanor Geraghty, 15, raced to three top-five finishes at the Spring Speedo Senior Sectionals in Boise.
The senior open qualifying meet — with no age group categories — hosted over 300 swimmers from 67 teams and 11 states.
In her first Senior Sectionals appearance, Geraghty placed third in the women’s 100 freestyle (50.79), fourth in the 50 freestyle (23.56) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:51.94).
Geraghty also advanced to finals in the 100 butterfly and finished 11th (55.77) to score 94 points at the meet, singlehandedly placing the Rapids 18th among women’s teams.
Also in his Senior Sectionals debut, Rapids teammate Alex Titianu, 16, advanced to the finals in three of his events. He dropped over 5.7 seconds to finish 10th in the 200 butterfly (1:54.80), and was 19th in the 100 butterfly (51.88). Titianu also won the D final (reserved for 18U swimmers) to finish 25th in the 200 individual medley (2:01.97).
