Top-ranked Raiders rip 30 hits in twin-bill trouncing of Corban

ASHLAND – Southern Oregon slugged 30 hits and turned in a .526 team batting average while notching back-to-back run-rule victories over Corban, 19-1 and 9-1 in five innings each Friday at University Field.
The top-ranked Raiders clinched another Cascade Conference series victory, improving to 33-3 overall and 15-2 in the circuit.
They sent 13 hitters to the plate in their first inning at bat of the day, an eight-run frame in which Sarah Kerling led off with a triple and came back up with a two-RBI double. Kerling, Kailer Fulton and Sammie Pemberton posted four hits apiece in the doubleheader. Pemberton doubled twice with five RBIs, while Fulton was never retired and went 5-for-5 on stolen-base attempts.
Ayla Davies and Katie Fodge both pitched complete games for the Raiders. Davies (19-2) limited the Warriors (1-30, 1-16) to six hits in her Game 1 start and Fodge (5-0) limited them to five in Game 2. SOU accumulated 20 hits in the opener, its highest total of the season, four of which went for extra bases.
Glory Pistole entered as a pinch-hitter and ended up 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs. Gia Almont had a pair of run-scoring singles off the bench, Kierstin Grotewiel went 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBIs, and Vanessa Lang was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.
The Raiders struck for four runs in the first inning of Game 2, where Fulton, Kerling, Mayze Menefee and Faith Moultrie contributed two hits apiece. Moultrie had two runs and two RBIs and Pemberton drove in three runs in the contest.
For the Warriors, Peyton Foreman went for two hits and an RBI in Game 1 and Hannah Griffith did the same in Game 2.
SOU has won 22 consecutive matchups between the teams. They’ll play two more starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
