ADOPT A PET: Mavis

Published 6:00 am Thursday, April 10, 2025

Age: Mavis is a 1 year, 3-month-old female brindled Labrador retriever mix.

Personality: Social (with both dogs and people), intelligent, playful, silly, puppy-like bursts of energy.

Highlights: Mavis is a lady with a contagious, bubbly spirit! She is simply a joy to be around, making it impossible not to smile as she bounces around the room making sure everyone gets a hello. A bright girl with an active mind, Mavis knows how to sit on command, and she’s eager to learn more through consistent training sessions and lots of tasty treats.

As a lively young pup, Mavis has lots of playful energy to burn and will need plenty of regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep her happy, healthy and on her best behavior. She’s excited to romp around the yard with her new family, running back and forth in an endless game of fetch or circling around with an ecstatic case of the zoomies.

After a long day of fun, she’ll love to cozy up in a soft bed after a mandatory cuddle session with her new best friends. While her history with cats is unknown, Mavis looks forward to meeting any other canine friends in the home prior to adoption. Mavis is ready to be a vibrant, fun-loving adventure buddy!

Because Mavis has been in JCAS care for over 75 days, her adoption fee has been reduced to $75. Please note, licensing fees apply.

Availability: Mavis is available at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix. The shelter is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and Noon – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins welcomed. No appointment needed. View Jackson County’s adoptable pets at jacksoncountyor.gov/pets.
